Learning information

Anonymous placement tests
You may take a placement test before creating or signing in to an account. We use a browser marker to continue the test and may process answers, result, language, level, timing, referral and campaign information. If you later register or sign in, the test may be linked to your account.
Support and feedback
If you contact us, we process the name and email address you provide, message text, request category and status, related conversation, and limited technical or security information needed to respond and prevent abuse.
Technical and usage information
- IP address;
- browser and device information;
- login and session information;
- technical logs;
- information needed to prevent abuse and maintain security.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Paddle as Merchant of Record.
Langwhich may receive information about a transaction such as:
- Paddle transaction ID;
- purchase status;
- credit package purchased;
- amount and currency;
- information necessary to associate the purchase with your Langwhich account.
Escape Systems SL does not receive or store your complete credit-card or debit-card details.
3. How we use your information
We use personal data to:
- create and maintain your account;
- provide stories, translations, explanations and learning tools;
- save vocabulary and learning preferences;
- provide purchased credits;
- process and verify successful purchases;
- provide customer support;
- maintain security and prevent fraud or abuse;
- troubleshoot and improve Langwhich;
- comply with legal and accounting obligations.
4. AI processing
When you request AI-powered features, relevant story topics and content, selected text, word questions, discussion messages, instructions or learning preferences may be sent to an AI service provider to generate the requested content or evaluation.
Langwhich currently uses OpenAI for these AI-powered features. We aim to send only the information necessary to provide the feature. We do not intentionally send your Langwhich password or complete payment-card details to OpenAI. OpenAI processes submitted data under its applicable business/API terms and retention arrangements.
Do not enter confidential, highly sensitive or personal information into story prompts or other AI input fields unless it is necessary.
5. Legal bases
Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data on one or more of the following legal bases:
- performance of a contract, where processing is necessary to provide Langwhich;
- legitimate interests, including security, fraud prevention and improving the service;
- legal obligations, including accounting and regulatory requirements;
- consent, where consent is required for a particular type of processing.
6. Payments and Paddle
Paddle processes payment and transaction information in its role as Merchant of Record.
Langwhich may prefill your account email address in Paddle Checkout. We store the purchase reference, transaction status, package and credits, amount, currency, environment and related identifiers needed to verify the purchase and keep credit grants idempotent. We do not store your complete payment-card details.
Paddle has its own privacy notice and buyer terms governing information that Paddle processes for payments, tax, fraud prevention, invoicing and buyer support.
7. Service providers
We may use service providers for functions such as:
- hosting;
- AI processing;
- security;
- customer support;
- payment processing.
Providers receive only the information reasonably required to perform their services and are subject to appropriate contractual and legal requirements.
8. International transfers
Some service providers may process data outside Spain or the European Economic Area.
Where required, appropriate safeguards are used for international transfers of personal data.
9. How long we keep information
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Account and personal learning information is generally kept while your account remains active, unless you remove particular content sooner or request account deletion.
Support and feedback records are kept for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the matter, maintain service continuity, prevent abuse or meet legal obligations.
After account deletion, anonymous placement-test statistics may remain after account, browser and detailed-answer links are removed.
Completed payment transaction facts may be retained for accounting, tax, fraud prevention and legal purposes, but are disconnected from the deleted Langwhich account and limited to the transaction information needed for those purposes. Payment information held independently by Paddle is governed by Paddle's own retention obligations and privacy notice.
Security records may be kept for limited periods where reasonably necessary to prevent abuse or establish or defend legal claims. Data handled by other providers is also subject to their applicable retention arrangements.
10. Account and data deletion
You can permanently delete your account while signed in: open Edit account, select Delete my account, read the confirmation, tick the acknowledgement box and confirm. Public instructions are available at https://langwhich.net/delete-account/.
Deletion removes your profile and sign-in credentials, stories and news texts, saved words and vocabulary details, practice history, accepted practice answers, quiz results, level results and progress, AI explanations and account usage records, discussion evaluations, personal news sources, credit history, and support or feedback content linked to the account or its registered email.
Completed payment transaction facts may be retained only where necessary for accounting, tax, fraud prevention or legal obligations, and are disconnected from the deleted Langwhich account. Anonymous placement-test statistics may remain only after the account link, browser marker and detailed answer state are removed.
If you cannot sign in, use the Contact form from your registered email address and state that you want the account deleted. Escape Systems SL will verify ownership before processing the request; submitting the form does not automatically delete the account.
11. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, including the GDPR, you may have the right to:
- access your personal data;
- correct inaccurate data;
- request deletion;
- restrict processing;
- object to certain processing;
- receive certain data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise your rights, use the Contact form.
You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data-protection authority.
12. Cookies and similar technologies
Langwhich may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for login, session management, security and operation of the service.
Langwhich uses the Google tag, Google Ads conversion measurement and, with your consent, Meta Pixel to understand how the service is used and whether our advertising leads to successful account registrations.
Google Consent Mode is initialized with advertising, analytics, advertising-user-data and advertising-personalization storage denied. If you accept, Google may use cookies or similar technologies for advertising measurement. If you reject, those storage permissions remain denied and Google may receive limited cookieless measurement signals.
Meta Pixel is not loaded unless you accept. If you reject, Langwhich does not send Meta PageView or CompleteRegistration events.
The registration conversion events do not include your name, email address, Langwhich user ID or other account-registration details. Google Enhanced Conversions and Meta Automatic Advanced Matching are not enabled.
13. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data.
However, no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
14. Children
Langwhich is not specifically designed as a service for young children.
Where applicable law requires parental or guardian consent for a minor to use an online service, the required consent must be obtained.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our service, providers or legal obligations change.
The current version will always show its latest update date.
